About This Event
Witness a gravity-defying world that challenges us to "be not afraid." Director & Choreographer: Rebecca LazierVisual Artist: Janet EchelmanComposer: Jorane A vast web sets the stage for a breathtaking aerial experience that reflects the interdependence among humans and our environment. Conceived by Guggenheim Fellowship Award-winning choreographer Rebecca Lazier and large-scale fiber artist Janet Echelman, Noli Timere dissolves the boundary between choreography and sculpture, creating a shared system in which body and environment continuously transform one another. With original music by acclaimed Québécois composer Jorane, the mesmerizing work explores how we navigate an unstable world. Noli Timere is made possible with the generous support of the New England Foundation for the Arts' National Dance Project, with lead funding from the Doris Duke Foundation and The Mellon Foundation; Canada's National Arts Centre's National Creation Fund, Guggenheim Foundation, Innovation Fund for Research Collaborations between Artists and Scientists or Engineers at Princeton University, Canada Council for The Arts, Arts Nova Scotia; Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage, City of Halifax. Noli Timere benefited from multiple residencies, including a four-week residency at PS21 Center for Contemporary Performance in Chatham, NY; the Princeton University Atelier Program; the Barrry Onouye Studio at the University of Washington Architecture Department; and at Breaking Circus (Halifax, Nova Scotia), Mocean Dance (Halifax, Nova Scotia) and Universcene (Montreal). Live Art Dance, Princeton University and Mocean Dance commissioned Noli Timere. Get more info and tickets here.
