Join us as artist Toby Sisson reveals her recent series, An American Journey, which explores the Great Migration—the movement of 6 million Black people from the south to the north between 1910-1970. ABOUT THE SPEAKER Toby Sisson is an Associate Professor of Studio Art at Clark University in Massachusetts. In addition to her studio practice in drawing, painting, printmaking, and collage, Sisson’s areas of specialization incorporate community-based service learning, collaborative public art, and curatorial projects. Her creative research explores themes at the intersection of history and race in America with a recent focus on migration movements, place making, and homeland. Her work is widely exhibited and collected, and she has received numerous fellowships and residencies in support of her artistic and scholarly practice.
